Know your worth.

Do not underestimate yourself, your knowledge, or your abilities. And don’t you let anyone else control those feelings of self worth.

Relationships are everywhere. Parents to children, husband to wife, parent to teacher, self to employer, friend to friend. Each one of these relationships need to be built and grow on a solid foundation of respect, trust, and admiration.

What happens when that foundation becomes unbalanced? One side of that relationship becomes jealous, bitter, angry and they pour that out in many ways. The other side of that relationship becomes silent, accommodating, and weary as they soak in all the negativity thrown at them. This type of relationship is abusive, it is bullying, it is wrong. As hard as it seems that it may be to walk away, please do so. You deserve so much more. You deserve to be somewhere where you are appreciated, respected, admired, trusted, encouraged, and celebrated.

This week's episode is with the incredible MOMgienist Cara Reck, RDH. She is the 2016-2017 President of the Montana Dental Hygienists Association. She is a mom to a sweet little boy and amazing wife. She shares her experiences with working on an Indian Reservation, handling the responsibilities of motherhood, and supporting her husband while he is deployed. She sets a fine example for us all. Why do we deny ourselves the opportunity to acknowledge our own hard work? For some odd reason we tend to downplay the effort we have put forth, to make it seem like it wasn’t that big of a deal? That it didn’t take us as much time as it looks like it did, or should have? I have been doing this to myself lately, and I need to STOP.

Some days I work harder than others, sometimes those really hard days don’t result in as much forward momentum as I would like, but that does not give me a right to sabotage or discount my efforts. Lists help to keep me aware of all that I am doing throughout the day so that I do not neglect to applaud my own hard work. If I have a list to guide me throughout the day not only do I stay on task but I also can look back and see exactly what I have been doing that is resulting in so little, at the moment. I have been on a journey lately to really find out how I fit into the realm of the Dental Hygiene world. While I really have enjoyed the patient care that I have been able to provide for the past 6 years. I am really finding that I am loving seeking out other opportunities as well.
