"I’ve taken Jasmin Haley ‘s course on LGBTQ and it’s excellent! 👏 I have put into practice some of the techniques and courtesies I learned in this class which I wouldn’t have known otherwise. I’m grateful for this course. A must take! ... The biggest thing I learned in your course was on preferred pronouns and I used that knowledge right away. I felt really comfortable interacting with my patient because I had learned about the LGBTQ culture. My patient seemed relieved that I didn’t question their preferences."
In 2014, initially this course was presented as a panel discussion at a community college dental hygiene program because of the lack of training within the dental hygiene curriculum for the advancement of diversity training; particularly with patients in the LGBTQ community. Jasmin has treated and educated the LGBTQ community extensively with her involvement with the HIV/AIDS community. Her primary focus is to promote cultural sensitivity and cultural humility.
Jasmin Haley, RDH, MSDH, CDA, is the Founder of Beyond the Prophy® and Co-founder of MOMgienist®. She is an adjunct faculty member at Howard Community College and educational consultant for an HIV/AIDS program at the University of Maryland, School of Medicine. She is a proud member of the American Academy of Dental Hygiene, National Dental Hygiene Association, American Dental Hygienists Association, and American Dental Education Association.
